A terrible year for Malaysian aviation :( My hugs and condolences to the families of all three flights.
AirAsia has just posted this Facebook update, confirming that the wreckage found in the Java Sea is from its plane:
“AirAsia Indonesia regrets to inform that the National Search and Rescue Agency Republic of Indonesia (BASARNAS) today confirmed that the debris found earlier today is indeed from…

Fox News shocked that Harvard students think the US is a greater threat to world peace than ISIS. Students who don’t agree with Fox are ‘twisted’, elitist and wrong apparently.
“campus reform” apparently now means “align campuses with US imperialism”
YUSSSSSS go Harvard!
they got their sat questions right, they can think
ISIS; developed in a vacuum, as obviously the laws of cause and effect don’t apply for more than twenty minutes when it comes to world politics. Sort of like Al Qaeda, who replaced all this nice muhjideen we set up over there. Or Saddam, who you might think had been propped up by the US for years, but that’d clearly be wrong. And we sure as fuck didn’t have anything to do with Iran’s Islamist revolution, because everyone knows nothing ever goes wrong with reinstalling dictators. Or maybe…
Jesus Christ. How the fuck do we keep thinking this interventionist shit is going to play out alright?

if you don’t think this carries an important message about our society then you are what is wrong with human society today
And this is why when you see a post empowering and uplifting black women, do not invade it with “don’t you mean all women.” No, because this is not the reality of “all women.”

When it comes to objectification, this is a great example of why comparing male strip clubs to Hooters is a “false equivalent.”
p.s. I saw this on FB and it wasn’t cited, but just found out this was also posted on tumblr several months ago by shatteredjunk.tumblr.com. Given the huge amount of notes this has gotten it seems like this needed to be posted again instead of just reblogged.

My Least Favorite Trope (and this post will include spoilers for The Lego Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Matrix, Western Civilization, and—cod help me—Bulletproof Monk*.) is the thing where there’s an awesome, smart, wonderful, powerful female character who by all rights ought to be the Chosen One and the hero of the movie, who is tasked with taking care of some generally ineffectual male character who is, for reasons of wish fulfillment, actually the person the film focuses on. She mentors him, she teaches him, and she inevitably becomes his girlfriend… and he gets the job she wanted: he gets to be the Chosen One even though she’s obviously far more qualified. And all he has to do to get it and deserve it is Man Up and Take Responsibility.
And that’s it. Every god-damned time. The mere fact of naming the films above and naming the trope gives away the entire plot and character arc of every single movie.
